Job Summary
Entry-level Nuclear Engineer within Duke Energy's Civil Design at the Catawba Nuclear Station. Under close supervision, develops civil/structural engineering solutions for plant modifications, including scoping and design packages, pipe stress analyses, and hanger/support design; supports maintenance activities such as lifting/rigging evaluations and peer-review of engineering products; prepares technical reports, calculations, and sketches; develops professional skills and independence while delivering engineering analyses and coordinating with teams. Requires ABET-accredited BS in engineering (MS considered in lieu), 0-2 years (Engineer I) or 2-4 years (Engineer II) of engineering experience with at least 1 year nuclear experience; willingness to obtain and maintain nuclear site access/security clearance; occasional travel; relocation assistance provided; and strong written/oral communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 0-2 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer I; 2-4 years for Nuclear Engineer II; minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
- Background in pipe stress analysis with willingness to perform/learn ASME B31.1 and ASME Section III pipe stress analysis.
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam and desire to complete PE license.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles; ability to coordinate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
