Job Summary
Nuclear Construction Project Manager 2 role at Los Alamos National Laboratory requires leading construction projects up to $500k, supervising Superintendent 2s, managing project scope, schedule, budget, and EVMS, and coordinating with federal sponsors. Responsibilities include initiating investigations of abnormal events, serving as a CAM for planning and budgeting, presenting performance plans and status updates, and ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance. Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of construction processes, risk mitigation, interpret blueprints and schematics, and maintain strong stakeholder engagement. DOE Q clearance is required; position may require flexible scheduling (days, nights, weekends).
Required Qualifications
- Nuclear experience is required
- Degree in engineering or scientific discipline or specialized courses in project management (or equivalent experience)
- Ten or more years of work experience in at least one of engineering, procurement, and construction
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
- Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance
- Strong leadership and management skills; ability to organize, direct, and control a team
- Experience leading construction projects including scope, schedule, and budget management
- Ability to interact with federal sponsors and senior management
