Job Summary
Develop engineering design change packages for civil and structural projects at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant, including piping systems, seismic qualifications, and foundation design. Research design issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and provide recommendations to project teams for implementation. Support assigned engineering changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation activities. Revise design specifications, technical requirement documents, site design basis documents, drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by changes. Develop safety screens and evaluations, complete post-modification testing activities, and facilitate turnover of design products to the Operations department. Act as a Lead Technical or Responsible Engineer for assigned projects, with work reviewed and verified by a qualified engineer. Requires 10+ years of nuclear industry experience and ability to obtain unescorted access to the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent BS degree with relevant work experience
- 10+ years engineering experience in the nuclear industry with experience in Civil/Structural Design Modification preparation
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks and subject to the site's Fitness for Duty Program)
- Strong oral / written communication skills within a professional environment
- Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
- Experience with the nuclear industry standard design process
- Must be able to work in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer
- Civil/Structural Design engineering experience at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant
- Experience in the 10CFR50.59 with respect to designing modifications to a nuclear facility
- 10 years discipline experience.
