Job Summary
Sorts diseased or defective poultry in a 2nd shift slaughter-plant setting, identifying diseases/defects as regulated by the Poultry Product Inspection Act, determining whether to condemn or salvage, marking parts for trimming, and entering information into the computer per lot. Must be able to read and interpret basic instructions, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, and work safely in a high-temperature, high-noise production environment. This safety-sensitive role requires passing a color-deficiency test, maintaining attendance/punctuality, and performing duties with attention to quality and compliance. The position emphasizes organizational skills, judgment, professionalism, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced production setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read simple words and recognize differences between words and number series
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences
- Ability to count
- Ability to pass color deficiency test
- Safety sensitive position
- Ability to stand and sit, lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work in wet/humid environment with heat
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions
- Ability to use computer input per lot
