Job Summary
Conduct patient care and related duties under the supervision of the Surgical Hospitalist Physician to support SPG Surgeons overnight. Function as the first call for all emergency department consults with physician backup for surgical specialties including urology, general surgery, plastics, breast, and thoracic. Perform rounds as needed for inpatient general surgery specialties and provide overnight Advanced Practice Practitioner coverage at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, MA. Work 36-hour shifts from 7 P.M. to 7 A.M. on weekend and holiday rotations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a related field
- Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Masters of Science Degree in Nursing
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current Massachusetts R.N. registration
- Nurse Practitioner Certificate
- Physician Assistant Certificate
- Knowledge and skill of orthopedic disorders and treatments
- Surgical First Assistant certification
- Skill in operating medical equipment, a variety of software applications and multiple projects
- One year experience as an Advanced Practice Practitioner
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards
- Eligible for state and federal controlled substances registration
- Night shift availability
- Weekend rotation availability
- Holiday rotation availability
