Job Summary
Conduct diversified patient care in the Intensive Care Unit under the direction of the Physician-in-Chief and consulting Intensivist. Perform initial histories, physicals, and daily rounds, including consultation and follow-up care, while preparing patients for transfer or discharge. Adhere to all quality-of-care measures and patient safety standards, participating in scheduled night and weekend call rotations. Requires A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program or Master's in Nursing, current Massachusetts registration, and over three years of experience caring for critically ill adult patients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a related field
- Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Masters of Science Degree in Nursing
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current Massachusetts R.N. registration
- Nurse Practitioner Certificate
- Physician Assistant Certificate
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards as set by the American Heart Association
- Proven ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems
- Proven ability to demonstrate maturity, self-confidence and the ability to follow complex patient management plans as directed by the attending surgeon
- Over three years up to and including five years' experience
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards
- as needed for open shifts
