Job Summary
Perform production welding on ships or in shop to support structural repairs and modernization of marine vessels (US Naval Vessels, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships). Requires interpretation of instructions and drawings, shipyard terminology, and the ability to certify in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW. Duties include coordinating with welding helper and fire watch, ensuring hot work readiness, adhering to OSHA and shipyard safety practices, maintaining clean work areas, and delivering quality workmanship with documented evidence. Must meet physical demands including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces; capable of operating welding equipment and hand tools; shipyard environment with exposure to noise and PPE requirements. 3rd shift available, 40 hours per week with overtime eligible. Location: National City, CA.
