Job Summary
This role involves production welding on ships or in a shop to support structural repairs and modernization of marine vessels (including US Naval Vessels, MSC, and commercial ships). Must have shipyard experience and be proficient in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and standards. Certification in all positions is required. Duties include directing welding helpers and fire watch, preparing work areas for hot work, inspecting welds, documenting conditions, and adhering to OSHA and shipyard safety practices. Physical requirements are extensive, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and operating tools and equipment in a dynamic shipyard environment. Required Qualifications
- Shipyard experience required
- Proficient in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW
- Ability to certify in all positions (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW)
- Able to interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards
- 4 years welding experience in related field
- Ability to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- Knowledge of US customary and metric measurement systems
- Communicate with supervisor and perform hot work safety protocols
- Must be physically capable to perform welding tasks and work in shipyard environments
