Job Summary
Shipfitter – 1st Class at a Florida shipyard performing steel structural work for marine vessels. Requires reading blueprints and ship construction terminology, interpreting drawings and weld symbols, and applying measurements in US customary and metric systems. Long-term project with housing assistance, per-diem, and overtime; must adhere to OSHA safety standards and wear PPE. Experience with oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting, fabrication of templates, squaring plates, and installing structures is needed; effective communication with supervisors and small teams is required.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years of related experience
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and blueprints (including weld symbols)
- Ability to read ship construction terminology
- Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor and small groups
- Ability to use measurement tools in US customary and metric systems
- Compliance with OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements
