Shipfitter Journeyperson responsible for steel and aluminum structural work in repair and modernization of marine vessels (including US Naval Vessels and Military Sealift Command) with minimal supervision. Must understand ship terminology, blueprints/drawings, measurements, and wear required PPE per OSHA standards. Requires experience reading structural drawings (including weld symbols), fabricating templates, fitting and installing foundations/structures, aluminum 5XXX processes, and safe operation of hand/power tools. Duties include preparing work areas for hot work, measuring and laying out structures, cutting/removing structures per drawings, constructing/installing foundations, aligning with drawings/specifications, coordinating with supervisors, and ensuring compliance with NAVSEA, ABS, Coast Guard standards and safety requirements. Second shift available; 40 hours/week with OT on approval. Physical demands include touring vessels/sites, lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, prolonged standing, climbing, working at heights, confined spaces, and PPE use.
