Job Summary
Plan, execute, and manage shipyard projects from initiation to completion, covering new vessel construction and repair. Develop detailed schedules, budgets, and resource plans using Microsoft Project. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, production, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. Monitor progress, mitigate risks, manage change orders, and lead cross-functional teams to uphold safety, quality, and contractual requirements. Prepare progress reports for senior management and clients, and drive continuous improvement in shipyard operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, project management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a project manager in a shipyard or maritime industry, with a focus on new construction and/or repair projects
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams in high-pressure environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, or similar project management software
- Strong understanding of shipyard operations, including construction techniques, repair processes, and maritime regulations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ABS, USCG) and quality assurance processes
- PMP or similar project management certification is a plus
