Job Summary
Journeyman Pipe Welder responsible for welding pipe of various metals on marine vessels and in shop environments to support repairs and modernization. Candidate will provide direction to assigned helpers, interpret drawings and Navy/MSC/ABS specs, operate welding equipment across SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and GMAW processes, perform hot work preparation and inspections, and comply with OSHA safety standards. Must have four years of pipe welding experience and the ability to certify joints (P-3 backing ring, P-14 socket weld) and read technical documentation. Works in shipyard environments with potential OT and second shift.
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) years of pipe welding experience
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and standards
- Knowledge of SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW theory
- Certification in P-3 joint and P-14 socket weld joint (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW or Silver Brazing)
- Ability to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- Ability to communicate and provide condition reports
- Ability to work shifts and OT as assigned
- Ability to operate welding equipment and tools
- Physical ability to perform required tasks
- Shipyard/Marine welding experience preferred
