Job Summary
Pipe fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (e.g., Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust). Provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor. Must read and interpret instructions, drawings, and general correspondence; possesses comprehensive knowledge of ship construction and P-73 joint fit-up; able to operate and maintain PPE per OSHA standards; familiar with Navy/MSC/ABS standards; long-term project with housing assistance and per-diem; schedule includes M-Th = 10 hours, Fri = 8 hours, with some Saturdays and Sundays.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of ship construction
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- Must be able to conf er job-related information in writing with corrective actions
- Must have knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up
- Must interpret drawings, specifications, Navy/MSC/ABS standards
- Must possess knowledge of equipment and work processes in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- Must be able to operate and care for tools and equipment
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic in US customary and metric units
- Must have at least three (3) years of pipefitting shipyard experience
