Job Summary
Pipe Fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, targeting, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (e.g., Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust) per work item specifications. Provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor. Long-term project with housing assistance available, overtime with great hours (M-Th 10 hrs, Fri 8 hrs, some weekends), and per-diem for qualifying individuals. Fluency in Spanish is noted (Se Habla Español) for Florida project. Call for full details.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required PPE per OSHA standards
- PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear
- Must be able to effectively confer job related information in writing including recommended corrective action
- Must have thorough knowledge of experience with P-73 joint fit-up
- Must be able to interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards
- Must possess knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- Must be able to operate and care for equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools used to accomplish work
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; understand US customary and metric systems
- Must have at least three (3) years of pipefitting shipyard experience
