Job Summary
Pipe fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, targeting, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust etc. in accordance with work item specifications. Provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor. Long term project with housing assistance, favorable hours (M-Th 10h, Fri 8h, some weekends), and per-diem for qualifying individuals. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years pipefitting shipyard experience
- ability to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- thorough knowledge of ship construction
- ability to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- ability to confer job-related information in writing with recommended corrective action
- thorough knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up
- ability to interpret Navy/MSC/ABS standards and manuals
- comprehensive knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- ability to operate and care for portable power tools and hand tools
- ability to perform basic arithmetic using US customary and metric measurements
