Job Summary
Pipe fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, targeting, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust, etc.) in accordance with work item specifications; provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor; long-term project with housing assistance, per-diem, and overtime; call for full details. Qualifications include comprehension of instructions/drawings, ship construction knowledge, PPE per OSHA, ability to interpret drawings and Navy/MSC/ABS standards, P-73 joint fit-up experience, and at least 3 years of shipyard pipefitting experience. M–Th 10 hours, Fri 8 hours, some weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear PPE as prescribed under OSHA standards
- Must be able to effectively confer job related information
- Must have thorough knowledge of experience with P-73 joint fit-up
- Must be able to interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards
- Must possess knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- Must be able to operate and care for tools and portable power tools
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; understand US customary and metric systems
- At least Three (3) years of pipefitting shipyard experience
