Job Summary
Pipe Fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (e.g., Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust) per work item specifications; provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor. Requires strong shipyard knowledge, ability to read drawings/specs, P-73 joint fit-up experience, OSHA/PPE compliance, and 3+ years of shipyard experience. Long-term project with housing assistance and per-diem; shift pattern M-Th 10h, Fri 8h, with some weekends; bilingual Spanish mention (Se Habla Español) for Florida project. Call for details.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction.
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear PPE as prescribed under OSHA standards.
- Must be able to confer job related information in writing with recommended corrective action.
- Thorough knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting.
- Ability to operate and care for equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; understand US customary and metric systems.
- At least three (3) years of pipefitting shipyard experience.
