Job Summary
Pipe fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, etc.) in accordance with work item specifications; provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor; long-term project with housing assistance and per-diem; salary is not specified in posting; great overtime hours (Mon-Thu 10-hour days, Fri 8 hours, plus some weekends); Spanish-speaking available; call for details.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of pipefitting shipyard experience
- comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- knowledge of ship construction
- ability to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- ability to communicate conditions found and recommended corrective action
- thorough knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up
- ability to interpret drawings and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals
- knowledge of equipment and processes in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- ability to operate and care for equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools
- ability to perform basic arithmetic (add/Subtract/Multiply/Divide) and understand US customary and metric measurements
