Job Summary
Pipe fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (e.g., Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust) in accordance with work item specifications; provides direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor; requires interpretation of drawings and standards (Navy/MSC/ABS); 3+ years shipyard pipefitting experience; OSHA/PPE; long-term project with housing assistance, per-diem, and overtime; Hispanic language support available; location: Morgan City, LA, USA
Required Qualifications
- Must have at least three (3) years of pipefitting shipyard experience
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- Must be able to effectively convey job-related information with written reporting including corrective actions
- Must have knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up
- Must interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards
- Must possess knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- Must operate and care for portable power tools and hand tools
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; understand US customary and metric measurements
