Job Summary
Now Hiring: Insulator Journeyperson for a Ship Repair project. Responsible for installing and removing insulation on ships, fabricating insulation for bulkheads, piping, and equipment to minimize heat transfer and deaden sound, with work performed across US Naval Vessels and commercial ships. Requires shipyard/maritime experience, ability to read instructions/drawings, OSHA PPE compliance, and supervision of Improvers and Helpers. Duties include measuring, cutting, fabricating insulation, and ensuring safe, quality completion per NAVSEA/ABS/Coast Guard standards; 6 years of related experience (3 maritime) expected. Required Qualifications
- Six (6) years of related experience, three (3) of which must be in the maritime environment
- Experience applying hullboard, Armaflex, Cal-sil, ventilation insulation, and insulation pads
- Experience fabricating insulation pads
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Must comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- Knowledge of ship repair terminology and ship compartment location nomenclature
- Ability to read CFRs and follow NAVSEA, ABS, Coast Guard standards
