Job Summary
Electrician Journeyperson responsible for installation, repair, and hook-up of electrical services on shipboard equipment (600 V and less). Requires working knowledge of electrical theory, ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems, and adherence to specifications and drawings. Responsibilities include running cables and terminations, testing circuits, inspecting equipment, ensuring safety with PPE and OSHA standards, implementing lock-out/tag-out, and coordinating with supervisors to complete daily tasks. Must read blueprints/diagrams, follow Navy standards, and demonstrate physical ability to work in shipyard environments, including confined spaces and variable conditions. Six years of related electrical installation and repair experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- Shipyard experience
- Must possess six (6) years of related electrical installation and repair experience
- Must be able to read and interpret composite blueprints, electrical diagrams, and Navy standards manual
- Must be able to write CFRs
- Must be able to operate and care for electrical shop equipment and tools
- 600 V and less electrical systems knowledge
- OSHA safety compliance
- PPE usage
- Ability to tour vessels and work in confined spaces
