Job Summary
The Accountant will prepare financial reports to track assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. Prepares periodic balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements; maintains the general ledger; codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks; reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections; verifies payment of invoices and ensures payments are charged to the correct accounts. Provides outside auditors with assistance and gathers necessary information for annual audits; files required tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies. Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software and recommends updates; performs other related duties as assigned. Requires extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting, adherence to GAAP, proficiency with accounting software, and 3-5 years of mid-advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central; strong organizational and communication skills; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline plus 3-4 years of experience. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
- Three to four years of junior accounting experience required
- US Citizenship due to defense contracts
