Job Summary
Conduct daily barn operations including cleaning transfer fingers, inspecting aisles for egg jams, and picking up floor eggs twice per shift. Check water levels, monitor temperature, and document all tasks with time and initials. Euthanize sick or injured birds while maintaining records, and clean a minimum of 30 cages daily. Ensure egg belts run smoothly, replace bulbs, and report feed spills or equipment issues to management. Shower daily in and out of the facility, and use the final 30-45 minutes of the shift to clean barn fronts. Perform any additional duties assigned by management as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Basic record-keeping ability for documenting euthanasia records, water checks, and other tasks
- Strong observational skills to identify issues such as egg jams, feed spills, or equipment malfunctions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow all GMP, SOP, and regulatory guidelines
- Strong communication skills to report issues to management
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet daily task deadlines
- Physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, and move about the barn for long periods
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Capable of standing, bending, and walking for long durations
- Must be able to shower daily in and out of the facility to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness due to the nature of the work environment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural, farm, or animal care settings is helpful but not mandatory
- Basic familiarity with routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, inspecting, and minor repairs, is beneficial
