Job Summary
Maintain building cleanliness by polishing fixtures, sweeping floors, and cleaning rooms, hallways, and restrooms. Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish surfaces; clean carpets, rugs, and upholstery; dust furniture and equipment; polish metalwork; wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, and door panels. Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays, transport trash to disposal areas, and replenish bathroom supplies. Replace light bulbs, cut and trim grass, and shovel snow if required under contract. Deliver messages and transport small equipment or tools between departments. Set up tables and chairs in auditoriums or halls as needed. Perform these duties while adhering to safety procedures, handling up to 50 pounds, and working in conditions involving wet surfaces, chemicals, and loud noise.
Required Qualifications
- Less than high school education
- up to one month related experience
- related training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
