Job Summary
Non-Executive Director on the SANE Australia Board and the mirror board of The Dax Centre. Contribute to governance oversight, strategic decision-making, risk management, and financial stewardship, interfacing with board committees and senior leadership to advance mental health advocacy and governance excellence. The role emphasizes integrity, empathy, and commitment to purpose, with participation in regular board activities and committee work. Remote work is available for this Australia-based governance opportunity, with Melbourne-based applicants preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Board, committee or advisory experience
- Strong governance capability and understanding of directors’ responsibilities
- Strategic insight, sound judgement, and financial acumen
- Risk oversight capability
- Attendance at regular Board meetings (~six per year)
- Active participation in at least one Board Committee
- Diligence in preparing for meetings and active contribution to Board and committee discussions
- Willingness to actively contribute to governance and committee work
- Lived experience of mental ill-health, grief, suicidality, distress, and/or trauma (desirable)
- Lived experience as a family member or carer (desirable)
- Ability to contribute to governance diversity and inclusion
