Job Summary

Transport patients to and from medical appointments, treatments, and healthcare facilities using wheelchair, stretcher, or secured vans. Collaborate with dispatch and clinical departments to optimize workflows while monitoring communication equipment for prompt call responses. Secure wheelchairs and stretchers with approved restraint systems, maintain vehicles and equipment, and complete trip documentation, mileage logs, and incident reports. Adhere to safety regulations, HIPAA confidentiality, and infection control policies while operating company vehicles in compliance with local laws. Work 3–12 hour shifts including rotational Saturdays from 7:45am to 8:15pm, with no Sundays, starting early to mid-September. Assist patients with mobility needs and transport them across the main campus, local rehab facilities, and behavioral health centers.

Required Qualifications

High School Graduate or GED
1 or more years Transportation or healthcare experience
CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS American Heart Association CPR within 60 Days
Valid, unrestricted driver's license, Kansas Class C or equivalent
MVR results must be in compliance with Health System Safe Driving Program Policy
Fluent English
Ability to assist patients with mobility needs
Ability to adhere to all traffic laws and restrictions
Ability to work effectively under emergency conditions and stress
Ability to operate assigned vehicle in a safe manner at all times
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
Basic typing and word processing
Ability to work in a confined and mobile environment
Ability to transport self to various locations
Thorough working knowledge of local geography, including mapping, street, and GPS systems
Ability to learn the components, operating characteristics, and settings of the equipment to be used
Excellent judgment and ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests calmly and effectively
Ability to work weekends
Ability to follow all hospital infection control policies and procedures
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents
Demonstrates knowledge of computers and desktop software
Exerting in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
Will need to be able to stoop/bend, kneel, and reach
Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
