Job Summary
Conduct nondestructive inspections on aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test methods. Detect flaws such as cracks, delaminations, voids, and heat damage while determining metallurgical information and interpreting test results for acceptance or rejection. Process parts, perform equipment standardization, and develop written instructions from approved procedures. Provide guidance and supervision to trainers and Level I and II personnel, approve NDT procedures, and ensure lockout/tagout and hazardous waste disposal protocols are followed. Review x-rays and analyze wear metal content reports to recommend corrective actions. Requires three years of aviation inspector experience, NAS 410 or ASNT-CP-189 certification, and US citizenship for facility credentials.
Required Qualifications
- Shall be trained and qualified per NAS 410 or ASNT-CP-189
- Three (3) or more years' experience as an aviation inspector
- Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
- US Citizenship
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
- Must be able to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds
- Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications
- Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty
- Must be able to work in maintenance shop or outside
- Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc
