Job Summary
Escort oversized loads of trusses and building components from company facilities to customer jobsites by operating a non-CDL vehicle while maintaining proper positioning ahead of or behind commercial drivers. Navigate challenging roadway conditions, construction zones, and tight locations while communicating hazards and route concerns to drivers, dispatch, and jobsite personnel. Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, verify safety equipment, and complete all required trip and delivery documentation accurately. Coordinate with dispatch on schedules and delays, report incidents immediately, and represent QXO professionally during customer interactions. Work primarily on public roadways and construction sites with early morning starts and schedule flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Acceptable driving record in accordance with company requirements
- Valid Escort Driver Certification where required for assigned operations
- Ability to meet applicable company driver qualification requirements
- Ability to safely operate a non-CDL company vehicle
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned delivery territory
- Ability to communicate effectively using mobile phones, radios, or other company communication devices
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform basic physical activities associated with vehicle inspection and transportation support
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles repeatedly throughout the workday
- Ability to lift or move signs, flags, safety equipment, and other transportation supplies
- Early morning starts, overtime, or schedule flexibility
- Local or regional travel
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous escort, pilot car, delivery, transportation, construction, or building materials experience preferred
- Experience supporting oversized or specialized loads is a plus
- Familiarity with trusses, lumber, building components, or construction materials preferred
- Knowledge of construction jobsites and delivery operations is a plus
- Previous experience operating company vehicles in local delivery environments preferred
