Job Summary
Analyze consumer loan applications and make sound, timely credit decisions within established lending policies and authority. Support the Portfolio Manager by overseeing daily underwriting operations, monitoring workflow, and helping achieve credit quality, portfolio performance, and profitability goals. Provide guidance and training to underwriting staff, partner with internal business channels, and ensure lending decisions are communicated clearly while maintaining regulatory compliance. Make impactful lending decisions that drive portfolio quality, profitability, and growth. Coach and develop underwriters through training, onboarding, and ongoing mentorship. Help shape underwriting operations, workflow efficiency, and future product initiatives. Work closely with leadership to support departmental performance, planning, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of progressively increasing lending experience
- High School diploma or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of credit and collateral underwriting standards
- Knowledge of federal lending regulations and underwriting rules
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate credit decisions effectively to clients and internal stakeholders
- Ability to use sound judgment in complex underwriting situations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
