Job Summary
Manage the Louisville Regional Airport Authority's FAA Part 150 Noise Compatibility Program, overseeing noise exposure maps, data collection, and community outreach while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Serve as the primary contact for aircraft noise concerns, responding to complaints, coordinating public meetings, and distributing operational updates to stakeholders. Lead noise abatement initiatives, including airspace design, sound insulation acquisitions, and the development of runway use decision aids. Monitor airport noise systems, analyze operational trends, and compile technical reports on program performance. Coordinate with municipal planning departments on land use compatibility, administer FAA grants, and manage consultant contracts for noise mitigation projects.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain appropriate airfield driving and escort privileges.
- Must pass criminal history background check and maintain eligibility for a security access badge in accordance with the Airport Security Plan.
- Position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in Public or Airport Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or closely related field.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses.
- Must have sufficient auditory ability, with or without audiological devices.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise levels up to 120 decibels.
- Must be capable of being on one's feet for extended periods of time.
- Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds unassisted.
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Member (CM) from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) preferred.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working at an FAR Part 139 or General Aviation airport or program management in a similar field is desirable.
- Preferred working knowledge of FAA Part 150 regulations, air traffic control procedures, noise compatibility programs, along with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data, information, and the ability to utilize technical equipment and instrumentation.
