Job Summary

Administer medications, tests, and treatments per physician orders while documenting responses and notifying staff of adverse effects or refusals. Assess residents on change of condition, assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and weekly progress note documentation. Maintain proper drug storage, security, and disposal of sharps; keep carts, refrigerators, and rooms clean and organized. Support the Charge Nurse with orientation, training, infection control, safety protocols, and quality assurance participation. Respond to emergencies, disaster situations, and audit reports with corrective action. Assist with physician rounds, dining program monitoring, and resident/family education on procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Current, active license as a Registered Nurse
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must be able to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume
  • Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, families, responsible parties, staff and outside resources and agencies
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Frequent bending and reaching
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination
  • Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Requires infrequent lifting of weight up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in long term geriatric nursing care and/or training in supervision preferred
