Job Summary

Assist residents with self-administration of medications, maintain accurate documentation, and report problems or refusals. Count controlled substances, ensure proper security and storage, and coordinate with pharmacies to deliver prescriptions. Review physician orders, chart medication changes, and communicate with families regarding condition changes or medical needs. Oversee monthly resident weights, collect urine samples, and monitor hydration and nutritional programs. Work with transportation for doctor appointments and collaborate with hospice agencies to ensure care plans are followed. Maintain supplies, respond to telephone inquiries, and participate in training sessions while adhering to Title 22 regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Current and valid State of California CPR certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of State of California requirements set forth in Title 22
  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of Gerontology, Dementia and Alzheimer's
  • Knowledge and ability to assist residents with medications
  • Ability to maintain resident confidentiality
  • Knowledge and understanding of Gerontology, Dementia and Alzheimer's disease
  • Ability to lead, direct and work well with others
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge and ability to oversee medication program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including ability to send emails, generate letters and other correspondence, work with spreadsheets; Also able to use other various office machinery, including a fax machine and copy machine
  • Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to respond to each resident with empathy and respect
  • Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments, resident and their family members, doctors and other outside professionals that provide service to the residents
  • Ability to respond effectively in an emergency or crisis situation
  • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, push, pull, sit and stand on feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Must pass background check
  • Must pass drug test, pre-employment physical and TB test
