NOC Engineer - Network Operations

Job Summary
Monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and document network incidents and escalations from Tier 1 support, diagnosing routing, switching, broadband, and commercial circuit issues across service provider environments. Provision and deprovision network elements and customer circuit services, performing maintenance activities and coordinating with vendors during maintenance windows. Develop repeatable troubleshooting procedures for Tier 1/2 support teams while participating in change management, incident response, documentation, and customer communications. Work the second shift in a Tier 2 engineering role focusing on FTTH and commercial Ethernet/MPLS services, utilizing skills in BGP, MPLS, IPv6, and Cisco IOS/IOS-XR platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a service provider Network Operations Center (NOC) in a Tier 2 or higher role
- Experience supporting Fiber PON, DSL, or Cable broadband networks
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting service provider routing and switching technologies
- Strong understanding of broadband technologies, MPLS virtual circuits, and residential fiber services
- BGP
- MPLS
- IPv6
- VPNs
- NAT/CG-NAT
- OSPF-TE
- ISIS-SR
- Service provider switching technologies including QinQ and L2VPN/EVC
- Cisco IOS/IOS-XR or equivalent service provider platforms
- Fiber OLT/ONT/ONU PON technologies
- Metro Ethernet circuits, NIDs, optics, and broadband provisioning
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, and broadband troubleshooting
- WiFi and mesh networking troubleshooting
- Windows/Linux troubleshooting and CLI navigation
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users via written documentation
- Positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset
- Self-motivated learner with a passion for network engineering and technology advancement
- Second shift availability
- Tier 2 or higher role experience

- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and/or Ciena service provider environments
- Experience with Ciena MCP, Navigator, or MCMS
- Service provider certifications such as: CCNP-SP
- Service provider certifications such as: JNCIS-SP
- Service provider certifications such as: Ciena CE/CRS certifications
- Service provider certifications such as: Nokia NRS
- Service provider certifications such as: MEF certifications
- Scripting or programming experience
- Familiarity with CDN technologies and service provider security practices
