Job Summary
Monitor network performance and respond to alarms, incidents, and customer issues as the first point of contact for Vector Fibre's network. Troubleshoot faults, manage service activations, and collaborate with Sales, Service Delivery, Network Specialist, and Architecture teams to maintain infrastructure availability. This role supports the delivery of reliable telecommunications services and participates in an on-call roster with an allowance for out-of-hours support. You will work within a collaborative team focused on ownership and accountability, progressing through a structured pathway into Network Specialist and Architect roles.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a Network Operations Centre (NOC), telecommunications, fibre, ISP or network service provider environment
- At least 2 years' NOC experience
- Exposure to networking technologies
- CCNA or an equivalent industry certification
- Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective when responding to network incidents and service outages
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confidence to work with customers and collaborate across multiple technical and business teams
- Proactive, accountable and team-oriented approach
- Ability to take ownership of issues, find solutions, and contribute positively to a 'we, not me' team culture
- Ability to work outside normal business hours (on-call roster)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with technologies such as MPLS, Segment Routing, L2VPN/L3VPN services, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and Optical Transport Networks (OTN)
