NOC Engineer

Job Summary
NOC Engineer (Tier 2) role in Sofia to monitor and manage the core European telecom network. Own and manage incidents from initial reporting to resolution, ensure SLA targets, troubleshoot and support customer issues, remotely test data/transmission circuits, and coordinate with third-party vendors. Responsibilities include proactive network monitoring, incident/change management, service restoration, and clear communication to customers during incidents. You will guide and support Tier 1 engineers and junior team members, with supervision from the NOC Manager and other stakeholders. Required skills include IP/Transport network fault management, WAN infrastructure operations in telecom/ISP environments, OSS tools, SNMP/syslog/TACACS-RADIUS, routing protocols (ISIS/OSPF), Ethernet (VLAN/MPLS), and experience with Juniper, Cisco IOS, Huawei devices, DWDM architectures, and related vendor equipment. Required Qualifications
- Experience in an operations environment with a technical network
- Over 3 years' experience in an operations environment
- Experience managing complex faults on IP and/or Transport Networks
- Operational support within WAN infrastructures in Telecoms/ISP
- Use of OSS management systems, SNMP, syslog, TACACS/RADIUS
- Routing protocol experience ISIS and OSPF
- Ethernet-based including VLAN / MPLS technologies
- Knowledge of Juniper Junos and Cisco IOS
- Experience with Juniper/Cisco/Huawei IP architectures
- Experience managing complex faults on optical DWDM networks
- Understanding of fibre and transport protocols CWDM/DWDM
- Experience with Huawei, Infinera, Ciena or similar equipment
- Fluent English; other European languages beneficial
- Willingness to join a developing team in Sofia
- Team leadership or mentoring responsibilities (guidance to Tier 1 engineers)
