Job Summary
Focal point for Network support and coordination related to all Flight Information Region (FIR) operations. Coordinates and monitors networking activities that affect NAV CANADA operational systems and equipment serviceability. Oversees release/restoral activities national in scope for network maintenance and technical projects, coordinates with outside agencies, and ensures timely restoration of services. Performs remote troubleshooting and remote restoral such as VM resets when possible. Monitors network status, analyzes performance indicators, and prepares trend reports. Coordinates contracted maintenance with third parties, supports Safety and Quality programs, participates in audits/site inspections, and supports building emergency procedures (fire warden duties, first aid). Strong collaboration with internal/external stakeholders, and capability to push configurations to networking devices. Requires bilingual English/French and onsite work in Ottawa, Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma
- completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or an approved alternative
- Experience in telecommunications
- Experience in Networking
- Knowledge of computer systems and networking
- Knowledge of radar, navigation, communication, Networks, power, and security systems used in the provision of air traffic services
- Ability to plan and organize activities to coordinate and implement long term or high profile planned Network shutdowns
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal in coaching and mentoring staff negotiate with internal and external third parties, deliver presentations, prepare written reports, and respond to a variety of questions
- Ability to work independently
