NL - Training & Compliance Specialist

Job Summary
Conduct training for incoming employees and existing staff on utility locating procedures, safety protocols, and equipment best practices. Perform regular field audits to assess locating accuracy, evaluate adherence to company policies, and document findings for corrective action plans. Provide one-on-one coaching to enhance locator skills while maintaining accurate records of training sessions and audit results. Prepare detailed reports on training effectiveness and compliance trends for management review. Travel 75% of the time for field work and meetings. This role supports the Locate Division's mission to ensure safety and regulatory compliance across utility locating operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years utility locating experience
- Ability to locate all utility types
- Expertise in locate industry
- Willingness to travel (75% +) for field audits, training sessions, and meetings
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge and understanding of Northern Lights policies
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to obtain a DOT physical certification
- Able to pass a drug and alcohol screen
- Attention to detail; strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks
- Ability to maintain a consistent teamwork mentality
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
- Team-oriented and has exemplary character
- Safety-focused
- Minimum of 5 years utility locating experience
- Knowledge and expertise in locating multiple utilities (i.e. electric, telecommunications, water, sewer, gas, etc.)
- Strong understanding of utility locating principles, techniques, and equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in reading utility maps
- Ability to present professionally and foster a learning environment to respond to questions from groups of trainees, managers, and employees
