Job Summary
Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned ELA instruction for high school students; design lessons that emphasize close reading of complex texts, academic writing, critical analysis, and discussion; implement instructional strategies for diverse learners (including ELLs and students with IEPs); integrate culturally responsive texts; monitor student progress with formative and summative assessments; analyze student work and data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions; maintain high academic expectations and support college-readiness benchmarks; create an organized, respectful classroom environment; collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in English, Education, or a related field (required)
- Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification in English Language Arts (required)
- Experience teaching ELA at the high school level
- Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, curriculum development, and assessment practices
- Ability to use data to drive instructional decisions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to educational equity and culturally responsive teaching
