Job Summary

Promote a positive patient experience by partnering with the nurse, physician, and healthcare team to provide excellence in patient care. Perform basic patient care functions including ADLs, ambulation, vital signs, and advanced skills such as phlebotomy, dressing changes, and Foley catheter discontinuation. Assist with daily living activities, transport supplies and medications, and monitor data entry for key patient safety information. Participate in hourly patient rounding, answer call lights promptly, and resolve or escalate patient concerns as needed. Maintain confidentiality, follow infection control policies, and document all patient care in the EMR while communicating effectively with the RN and charge nurse.

Required Qualifications

  • Rising Senior in Good Standing Other / Related Field or High School Diploma / GED
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
  • Graduation from a State approved program for Certified Nursing Assistants or Patient Care Tech Program
  • Wellstar minimum age of hire is 16
  • Ability to follow detailed directions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication, specifically ability to document
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment which requires multi-tasking
  • Must be able to perform under stressful conditions with a compassionate, respectful and service mindset
  • Must be able to take direction from a variety of care providers
  • Must be organized
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • ARRC (Ask a question, Request a change, Voice a concern, Use chain of command when necessary)
  • Knowledgeable, maintains, and acts as unit expert regarding patient care documentation tools related to their role in the event of downtime
