Job Summary
Champion safety procedures and lead a Transportation department culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost. Oversee and develop drivers and associates through one-on-one coaching, training, and performance discussions to ensure safe, accurate, and timely daily outbound shipments. Direct and supervise work productivity while building high-performing teams through interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary actions. Monitor production goals, analyze delivery problems, and implement cost-effective solutions in adherence to DOT regulations. Conduct routine safety meetings, investigate accidents, and maintain driver qualification files. Effectively schedule shifts using planning tools and spend significant time on the road or in the truck with drivers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce
- High school diploma or GED
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills
- Strong understanding of DOT requirements
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office)
- 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training
- Must be able to perform physical activities including standing, walking, driving, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, stooping/squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulder, twisting, grasping, manipulating, and manual dexterity as described in the Physical Qualifications section
