Night Time Communications Specialist (Dispatcher)

Job Summary
Answer inbound and outbound calls from hospitals and field units to coordinate emergency responses and manage asset deployments. Triage requests, monitor weather and road conditions, and direct ambulance responses while maintaining situational awareness in the online dispatch platform. Input accurate data into CAD systems, update crew schedules, and provide routing information to field crews. Monitor radio traffic, control dispatch queues within 30 seconds, and report performance exceptions to management. Complete daily status reports, assist with new dispatcher training, and adapt procedures during system failures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Speak clearly and concisely in an understandable voice via radio, telephone, and in person
- Demonstrates ability to type 35 words per minute
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must be able to pass a criminal and civil court record check
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Thorough geographic knowledge of service areas
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions in memos, letters, and various documents
- Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Must be available for 12 hour night shifts, 8:00pm-8:00am
- Must be available for weekly rotating shift schedule: 3 days one week, 4 days the next
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
