Job Summary
Maintain an environment in assigned buildings safe, secure, and conducive to student learning through daily cleaning, snow removal, and perimeter checks. Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and equipment operation including vacuums, yard machinery, and hand tools. Order supplies, ensure cleanliness meets district standards, and report facility issues regarding heating, ventilation, and cooling. Assist with training new employees, cover for the Head Custodian, and safeguard school property from theft. Complete work indoors and outdoors, including athletic complexes and parking lots, while communicating clearly via email and data entry in the electronic work order system. Report major problems to the Head Custodian or Facilities Management Department as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated custodial experience or ability to be trained as evaluated by the Custodial Managers of the Facilities Management Department
- Proven ability to communicate with others
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
- Knowledge of housekeeping practices and materials
- Knowledge of minor equipment repairs
- Knowledge of routine maintenance
- Bending, lifting to 70 lbs. on a routine basis, climbing, continuous standing while working
- Valid driver's license required
- May be exposed to dust, dirt, and chemicals
- Work is both indoors and outdoors
- May be exposed to inclement weather, ultraviolet radiation and blood borne pathogens
- May includes Weekend Shifts
