Job Summary
Develop and implement an athlete-centered coaching philosophy while identifying, modeling, and teaching positive values and behaviors through sports. Organize and plan practices to maximize performance, time on task, and resources, utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to enhance learning. Design and implement a training, conditioning, recovery, and nutritional program, while monitoring environmental conditions and modifying participation as needed to prevent injuries. Facilitate the social and emotional growth of athletes by creating a positive athletic environment, providing opportunities for responsibility and leadership, and demonstrating effective game management and scouting for matches. Create a positive program relationship with parents, school, and community, and fulfill all legal responsibilities and risk management procedures associated with coaching.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
- Must have completed a Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association approved course in the care and prevention of athletic injuries by the end of the first year of coaching
- Must earn Accredited Interscholastic Coach certification from the National Federation of High Schools by the end of the first year of coaching
