NGM - Exploration District Geologist, Cortez

Job Summary
Lead a team of geologists in identifying, assessing, and exploring new targets within the assigned district to unlock district-scale potential and extend mine life. Design, propose, and execute exploration programs across all pipeline stages, developing geological models to guide target generation and drill planning. Oversee field activities to ensure high-quality data collection, manage project budgets and schedules, and apply economic criteria to prioritize opportunities. Prepare technical reports, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external contractors, and obtain required permits while enforcing health, safety, and environmental standards. Partner with Human Resources on talent management and communicate project objectives to internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mineral exploration, including field-based project leadership
- Proven experience designing and executing exploration programs from early stage through advanced exploration
- Strong geological modeling, target generation, and drill planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage exploration budgets and control costs
- Strong technical reporting, data management, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in exploration
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and internal stakeholders
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geology or a related discipline
- Experience working at district or regional scale exploration programs
- Familiarity with modern exploration technologies, data systems, and geoinformatics standards
- Prior experience in a mining company or large-scale exploration organization
- Experience leading, training, and mentoring geologists and technical teams
