Job Summary
The Newscast Producer is responsible for the production of daily newscasts, deciding the order of stories, writing teases and content, and editing video for broadcast across multiple platforms. The role requires balancing news and feature content, approving scripts, and writing stories for the website and other eMedia platforms while also interacting with viewers on social media. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work under deadline pressure while managing multiple tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Fluency in English grammar
- Complete understanding of current events and news
- Complete understanding and compliance with journalism ethics
- Ability to work under deadline pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work any shift
