Job Summary
Design and maintain taxonomy structures across subjects, industries, geographies, people, and events under the guidance of experienced team members. Create and refine classification rules, including synonyms, variants, and scope guidance, while reviewing content to optimize search precision and recall. Analyze global news and business content to identify emerging topics and evolving terminology requiring taxonomy updates. Research new concepts to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with established standards, using AI tools to support knowledge work while critically evaluating generated output. Contribute to taxonomy standards, documentation, and best practices as expertise grows. This entry-level role offers structured training, hands-on experience, and mentoring within the Global News & Business Taxonomies & Indexing team at LexisNexis Legal & Professional, part of RELX.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in global news, current events, business, economics, or geopolitics
- Excellent command of written English
- Strong analytical thinking and research skills
- Aptitude for recognising patterns and organising information consistently
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work
- Interest in AI and how it can be leveraged safely and ethically in knowledge work
- Exposure to taxonomy development, metadata management, content classification, or library work
- Relevant academic study or transferable experience related to information, language, research, journalism, humanities, social sciences, or a similar field
