Job Summary
Conduct live shots, write and post multiple stories daily for broadcast and all FOX 8 multimedia platforms under tight deadlines, and manage breaking news and severe weather coverage with sound split-second decisions during live broadcasts. Gather user-generated content, work with social media, and utilize ENPS preferred software. Operate in a highly functioning newsroom requiring flexible work hours across mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, holidays, weekends, and possible overtime. Must be located in New Orleans, LA.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience as a television reporter in a top 125 market
- BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
- Flexible work hours; must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts including but not limited to: mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, holidays, weekends, and possible overtime hours
- Must be willing to work in New Orleans, LA
- Must be able to work in a highly functioning, talented newsroom
- Must be a self-starting, strong journalist with an investigative mindset
- Must be an excellent writer for broadcast and all multi-platform content
- Must be a positive leader inside and outside the newsroom
- Must be able to tell impactful stories
- Must have a sense of service
- Must want to tell stories in a highly ethical journalistic environment
- Must be able to do a tough job
- Must be strong at managing breaking news and severe weather coverage
- Must be able to make sound split-second decisions during live broadcasts
- Strong skills in posting to the web, working with social media, and gathering user-generated content
- Knowledge of ENPS
