Job Summary
Generate original story ideas and cover live, breaking news as an MMJ, maintaining contact with sources to develop reports. Shoot, write, edit, and post content to newscasts, web, and social media platforms while coordinating field crews. Incorporate social media material into workflows and demonstrate strong photography and non-linear editing skills. Work under tight deadlines on a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of reporting experience
- Dynamic on-camera energy and delivery with the ability to ad-lib
- Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills
- Solid news judgment
- Ability to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
- Familiarity with all distribution platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Internet, etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work under tight deadlines on a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Must be able to shoot, write, edit, and tell great stories
- Must have excellent verbal and written skills
- Must be able to work individually and/or in a group setting
- Ability to generate their own story ideas
- Strong track record of enterprise reporting and covering live, breaking news as an MMJ
- Must understand and incorporate social media material into their workflow
- Must be able to respond aggressively and quickly to breaking news
