Job Summary
News Producer for Telemundo Chicago responsible for the overall creation and production of newscasts and related programs. You will manage rundowns, ensure accuracy and ethical balance, respond with urgency to breaking news, and integrate digital/streaming strategies into coverage. Collaborate with producers, reporters, and management to plan stories, optimize resources for a duopoly with NBC Chicago, contribute ideas for daily coverage, and produce on-air broadcasts from the control room. Responsibilities also include writing scripts for all platforms, staying informed on daily Chicago news, and adapting to a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and overnights. Bilingual Spanish/English required; union membership with NABET, and legal work status in the U.S. are necessary. 100% on-site in Chicago with a salary range of $63,000-$90,000. Benefits offered.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Producer in a newsroom
- Fluency in Spanish and English
- Must join the NABET union if not a current member
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work in Chicago
- Active Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Experience with line-producing and breaking news
- Knowledge producing content and writing for digital and streaming platforms
- Excellent news judgment and ability to work under intense deadlines
