Job Summary
Produce daily newscasts for broadcast across all platforms by writing, editing, and ordering news stories while approving scripts and balancing content. Edit video, write web content, and post to the website, then interact with viewers on social media sites. Pitch story ideas, shoot or set up interviews, and communicate with managers and field teams daily. Handle breaking news situations under pressure with strong judgment and a sense of urgency. - Minimum one year experience in news operations
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment
- Detail oriented
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Sense of urgency
- Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
- Flexibility to work any shift
- Ability to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, and work near others
- Ability to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
- Repetitive movements capability
- Ability to work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions
